Meet Dr. Bhavna Pahel
Dr. Bhavna Pahel was born in Jaipur, India and lived in India until 2001 when she moved to the United States for graduate school. Before moving to the U.S., she graduated from dental school in India and worked in public health dentistry there. She received her Master’s in Public Health at UNC-Chapel Hill and went on to earn her PhD in Health Services Research. She then completed a two-year National Research Service Award-funded fellowship in health services research at UNC-Chapel Hill. Afterwards, Dr. Pahel returned to dental school to obtain her U.S. Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at UNC-Chapel Hill. She also completed her pediatric dentistry residency at UNC-Chapel Hill. Apart from working at Village Family Dental, Dr. Pahel teaches and conducts research in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the UNC School of Dentistry as an Adjunct Assistant Professor.
Dr. Pahel is a member of the NC Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. When asked what she enjoys most about her job, she states:
“As a pediatric dentist, I enjoy the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with children and their families and to help them grow up with healthy smiles.”
Dr. Pahel currently resides in Carrboro, North Carolina with her husband, Thomas, who is a research analyst a the UNC School of Dentistry. They have two children, Nicholas and Genevieve. In her spare time, Dr. Pahel enjoys baking, reading, and spending time with her family.
